GMODT’s Music Monday Featuring Old School Reggae

Bob-Marley-frat

As The Onion and other publications could tell you, college kids love them some Bob Marley. In fact, there’s a good chance that on every dorm room floor and in every frat house there are at least two Marley posters for every three rooms. It’s just science.

Unfortunately, most people’s reggae knowledge begins and ends with spliffs and dreadlocks. But take a minute because I’m here to tell you that in the late 60’s and early 70’s Jamaican studios were pumping out tons of music with innovative production and great song writing for the era. Here is a sampling of some great Reggae that will expand your knowledge beyond the same “Buffalo Soldier” song that’s blasting from the Sig Ep’s of the world.

Thanks for the insight into the new tunes. My knowledge doesn't go far beyond Marley and Tosh, but as a former SigEp, I can definitely say that I'd be blasting these tunes from my old room.
  • I think the picture actually says Sigma Phi Epsilon but I can't be sure because I'm illiterate in greek letters. Either way Sig Ep was a cool fraternity at UofO. Classy bunch and much cleaner than their UW compatriots.
  • Ah, The Congos. Good tunes for a good day, GMODT. Congratulations to the entire Lacrosse All Stars team on a stellar relaunch. Almost as stellar as the time I saw GMODT relaunch his Burrito Boy dinner out the kitchen window.

WHOA! harsh dude, this site is for laxers by laxers, if you support the game and want it to grow like these guys then constructive criticism would be the tactful way to go.

looks great to me, better than before and my guess is it's only going to continue to grow, nice work guys.
