Awesome article by Rusty! Glad to see Idaho lacrosse is on the rise. Welcome to the team, Rusty! Great to have you here.

Other readers – Let Rusty know your thoughts on lacrosse in the Western region. I’m sure he’d love to hear it!

  2. TexasForever 1.8.09 / 1am

Wow, sounds like Idaho lacrosse is growing. I have a couple of old friends there – hope they’re getting involved. Nice post, Rusty. Looking forward to more.

  3. TexasForever 1.8.09 / 3pm

Cool to see an MCLA team get some ink on the Baltimore Sun site. Weaver always delivers good content.

  4. DuckFan 1.8.09 / 7pm

Good for Michigan! Now they need a football team that their lacrosse program can be proud of.

  5. pops 1.8.09 / 7pm

It’s great to see the growth of lacrosse as a spring sport and the way it has attracted top h.s. athletes in Idaho and other states. In fact, the state track meet in Idaho is now known as "the fastest kids who couldn’t make the lacrosse team."

  6. A Clough 1.8.09 / 10pm

It’s weird to see Lil Wayne acting normal…. I didn’t know he could do it.

  7. Rusty Papagiorgio 1.10.09 / 8pm

Would I have pulled a cheap shot like that? No.

Would I have run like a little girl after the fact? Probably.

  8. BigManDan 1.11.09 / 5pm

    Ridiculous. What a chump. C’mon!

  9. MCLAFan1 1.11.09 / 5pm

Will Moss is the man! I heard he was the one leading the charge for live webcasting as well. Montana really has a good thing going, they better do all they can to keep Will around!

  10. TexasForever 1.13.09 / 8pm

CP22 is the man. But is he really doing all that much for Lacrosse? I’ll need to check out his company. One thing’s for certain, I’ve always wished Brine & Warrior had more of a local presence in lesser-known lacrosse communities. I wonder if they’ve ever considered having a "street team" that travels the US running promotions? Kinda like those Oscar-Myer Weiner folks…

  11. Superlight2traditional 1.14.09 / 3am

Great to see the old school bucket helmet, everyone should have to put one on. That will let you know how far this sport has already come. Are those L35 also? Wow.

  12. TexasForever 1.15.09 / 9pm

That was weird. Kenny Mayne is weird.

  13. pops 1.16.09 / 6am

It’s a weak storyline. Usually Mayne is a very funny guy, Sopranos guys are professional and clever, Bobby Flay is famous and a big personality……but then some guy in a cowboy hat steals the show (such as it is). Good cast, bad script.

  14. pops 1.16.09 / 7am

College lax players seem to guzzle Red Bull, while NBAers use other relaxing herbal remedies. I don’t think the sleep thing is in the cards for the hyper A.D.D. lacrosse crowd.

  15. XYZ 1.16.09 / 7pm

In my opinion – definitely not. Lax fans follow the game closely. We may be crazy fanatics but not in any way A.D.D.

  16. 9LaxersWest 1.17.09 / 4am

Haha I have Twitter and I can’t find any lacrosse fans – Maybe it’s time to find you on there!

  17. Jason 1.19.09 / 7pm

    Great article Rusty, keep’em coming!

  18. TexasForever 1.22.09 / 1pm

Wow, this is great stuff. Way better than the Grey Album.

  19. thomas katsikas 1.22.09 / 4pm

Radiohead is without a doubt my favorite band. This is legit a godsend.

  20. RecklessK 1.22.09 / 10pm

I’d like to learn more about Campbell’s story. Sounds like he’s had quite the lacrosse journey. The insight he gave on picking the right school = priceless. Wish I would have read that when I was a senior in HS.

  21. Striding Man 1.23.09 / 2am

Everyone give TK Baby a big welcome! He’s going to be coming at us with lots of good insight on gear, high school lacrosse, music, and number of other things. We’re excited to have him!

  22. 9LaxersWest 1.23.09 / 2am

Interesting perspective, and it makes a lot of sense.

  23. pops 1.23.09 / 6am

Good stuff to share w h.s. players from the voice of experience. Thanks for posting it here I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise.

  24. pops 1.23.09 / 6am

never been a fan of the blindside hits…this one made me wince.

  25. NJLaxer 1.23.09 / 1pm

this blog is corny and unoriginal!

  26. thomas katsikas 1.23.09 / 4pm

i put up the fatty, no problem.

  27. 9LaxersWest 1.24.09 / 5pm

    155Kg? Easy.

  28. 9LaxersWest 1.25.09 / 12am

Wow. I need to get one of those. I wish he had a website!

  29. thomas katsikas 1.25.09 / 1pm

those stupid woodrow warrior shafts are NOTHING compared to these.

  30. thomas katsikas 1.25.09 / 11pm

    OMG THOSE KIDS ARE SCRAPPIN!

  31. laxCookies 1.26.09 / 3am

sweaty fat guy dripping on me when im working out? no thanks you. crazy brits!

  32. bklax2 1.26.09 / 5am

K 18s all the way. I have been using the armguards for almost three years now and haven’t seen anything that can match there mobility and breathability. I don’t know much about the gloves and shoulder pads but as far as the armguards go…….nothing compares to the K18

  33. Superlight2traditional 1.26.09 / 9am

Love the photo of Gait. Glad to say I saw that game when I was in HS. I wish the gloves and arm guards offered better protect and last longer now. To much money for a set of gloves that won’t even make it one season. All the players on my team are always complaining about the gloves getting holes.

  34. RecklessK 1.26.09 / 5pm

"SOME All-Star games think ties are like kissing your sister" Wa Wa Wa, I love it.

  35. thomas katsikas 1.26.09 / 7pm

My K18’s once had the part where the STX logo is rip off, but then I got a new pair and that have last 2 years and counting.

  36. thomas katsikas 1.26.09 / 10pm

yo yo jack what’s goin’ down?

  37. thomas katsikas 1.26.09 / 10pm

    these guys are dominant.

  38. JDberkman34 1.27.09 / 2pm

The Reebok site is down….not a good first impression for someone who is skeptical about reebok lax equipment. Do they have their shit together?

  39. Striding Man 1.28.09 / 2am

    Looks like it’s back up!

Here’s some interesting insight from Colin at OnTheCrease.com:
    http://onthecrease.xzebit.com/2009/01/is_this_really_what_we_want_fo.php

Also, another intresting point was brought to my attention today: Of all the major manufacturers (Brine, Warrior, STX, DeBeer, etc.), Reebok is the only one that sells their gear on their own website. IMO, Brine & the others better start thinking about doing that too…

  40. 9LaxersWest 1.28.09 / 3am

"Can this camouflage strategy make its way from the rink to the lacrosse field? Never count out crazy goalies…they’ll try anything." Haha. So true. You should see my team’s goalie, he’s nutz.

  41. dhall 1.28.09 / 4am

I don’t see how it could. Goalies can’t wear different colored uniforms, so how would it? Are all goalies gonna start wearing net-patterned sweats. I don’t even think that’s legal. I believe it has to be a team color. Besides that it’s a lot easier to camouflage 3×3 than it is 6×6

  42. Rusty Papagiorgio 1.28.09 / 5am

I was thinking that using red mesh would be good for keepers. It catches the eye and might skew some split second decisions by shooters.

  43. USL 1.28.09 / 1pm

LaxAllStars: Thanks for all the love! We love following your website! Hope to see you in ‘10 in Baltimore.

  44. CoW 1.28.09 / 5pm

I see what you mean. It really doesn’t have a message. "Come to the MCLA because we’re playing lacrosse." It feels like this has been a problem throughout lacrosse…

  45. RecklessK 1.28.09 / 9pm

I think this a great video – awesome footage and narration – but I wish they would’ve added more meaning behind it. Yeah, it promotes the MCLA, but it seems like an internal promotion. I want the MCLA to start boasting about how incredibly talented their players are and how great a league it is. A real recruiting video, just like the NCAA does with their "student-athlete" commercials, is what the league needs.

  46. thomas katsikas 1.28.09 / 9pm

    son of a

    video removed.

  47. 9LaxersWest 1.29.09 / 1am

Looks like this dude knows how to fight. I’m going to try to catch it on tv. Will let y’all know how it goes.

  48. Krieg 1.29.09 / 6am

Geoff Snider is one tough Canuck.

  49. thomas katsikas 1.29.09 / 7pm

this has nothing to do with lax but *** lax cause this thing is awesome.

  50. bigBADbone 1.29.09 / 8pm

Goalies are always looking for an edge…my keeper used to wear size 4X sweats just in the off chance a ball would get caught up in his pants on a 5 hole shot.

I dont think camo is the next big thing but goalies are going to always find SOMETHING they can use to push the limits of the rules.

  51. thomas katsikas 1.29.09 / 11pm

Just remembered this one. From Calvin and Hobbes: "I hope that wasn’t anyone I know."

  52. Drea 1.29.09 / 11pm

The Snuggie is a poor man’s XXXL Lax sweatshirt/sweatpants.

  53. 9LaxersWest 1.30.09 / 12am

Cool gear, but where’s the ball?

  54. TexasForever 1.30.09 / 2am

I bet he’s better than my team’s goalie.

  55. laxCookies 1.30.09 / 3am

Frosty the "lax-man" was a jolly happy souuuuuuuuullll…over here and there all across the square saying "Bet I’ll score that gooooooooooaaaaaal"

  56. Mike 1.30.09 / 3am

It’s an awareness commercial. It’s supposed to make those who are unfamiliar with the MCLA aware of the organization’s legitimacy. If you know what the MCLA is, then yes, there’s nothing new to the message, but if you think teams like BYU, CSU and Michigan are just "club" teams, then the commercial might make you think twice about what’s going on outside the East Coast. Wouldn’t you agree?

  57. pops 1.30.09 / 7am

Looks like warm up gear for the Woozles.

  58. MNblasterLax 1.30.09 / 2pm

Why haven’t I heard of this before? I’m putting my son on a team. Minnesota lacrosse continues to grow!

  59. MNblasterLax 1.30.09 / 2pm

Ha! You know, you just might have something here. Know of anyone who’s ever actually done this at practice?

  60. DCEagles 1.30.09 / 4pm

I’ve done it at some summer lax camps, we called it tennis ball dodgeball and it was a blast! You can really wing those tennis balls and with goalie sticks it makes things interesting and the games last longer.

  61. thomas katsikas 1.30.09 / 9pm

Frosty the "lax-man" was a jolly happy souuuuuuuuullll…over here and there all across the square saying "Bet I’ll score that gooooooooooaaaaaal"

    this kid wins.

  62. 9LaxersWest 1.30.09 / 11pm

Ooh la la. I love Friday Night Lights. I heard it’s back on tv now too. Anyone watched it?

  63. Rusty Papagiorgio 1.30.09 / 11pm

I suppose you have a point Mike. The question is, why make an awareness commercial if it’s not being distributed? The only way to see it is by going to MCLA associated websites, which if you’re visiting, you probably already have some idea of the what the MCLA is.

Now, if it were being sent out in DVD form to anyone with a US Lacrosse card, then it might make more sense.

  64. 9LaxersWest 1.31.09 / 12am

Great post TK. This can go up on my wall.

  65. Mike 1.31.09 / 12am

They were aired during the MCLA championship TV broadcasts each year. Out of curiousity, what would you like to see in a MCLA commercial?

  66. thomas katsikas 1.31.09 / 12am

you can even have Jesus etch it into a stone henge! awesome! (not offense towards anyone religious)

  67. Krieg 1.31.09 / 7am

I’ve done this at a few camps I personally attended and then one I coached and a few practices here and there…always fun.

  68. laxCookies 1.31.09 / 5pm

    another commandment:
" thou must changeth thine plane of thoust shot" high to low or low to high. Gotta mix it up baby!

  69. Rusty Papagiorgio 1.31.09 / 10pm

Mike, I don’t think these commercials were poorly done. In fact I think they’re fantastic, which is why I encouraged readers to check out the ones I didn’t post. The only thing I was confused about was how they were supposed to help the league. I didn’t catch them on CSTV, but if they did get some air time then I can understand their purpose. I was under the impression that they were simply created so they could be shown during the national tournament, then immediately posted on youtube.

If you ask me, the league needs to find a way to get commercials like this to high school athletes in the country’s lacrosse hot beds. I can’t pretend to know how that gets done, but I think it could help bring some more talent to the MCLA.

  70. TexasForever 1.31.09 / 10pm

I like how you were "tweeting" live from the event. you guys should have your twitter feed show up on the site!

  71. TexasForever 1.31.09 / 11pm

Is that blue graphic supposed to be MP’s face? siiick.
